Open Letter from the President

Written by Super User.

May 30, 2016

Hello fellow community league residents!

My name is Courtney Barnes and I am the Interim President for your Baturyn Community League. I have undertaken this role as a result of the resignation of the elected President earlier this month. Since our AGM in March, not only have we lost our President, we have also lost our volunteers in the roles of Secretary, Volunteers Director, Finance Director, Memberships Director, and one of two Castle Downs Rec Society representatives. That encompasses 6 out of 13 voting board positions. While all had valid personal reasons for their resignation, it has left the remaining board members in a very unsustainable position.

As former Vice-President, I have stepped up to cover as many positions as possible and while we have recently had two volunteers step up into the Secretary and Volunteers Director positions, there is still much work to be done. If you, or anyone you know, may be interested in joining us either on the board or as volunteers for special projects (eg. hall repairs or social events) I invite you to contact me directly at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to see if we can find a role you might enjoy. Full board position descriptions are available on our website under “Volunteers”.

In the meantime, the remaining board members request your patience as we attempt to work through the backlog of unanswered emails, which of course has developed at the busiest time of year, what with spring sports in full swing! If you have recently sent a message to the Baturyn board and have not received a reply, please contact me directly at This email address is being protected from spambots. Baturyn is your community and your home. We want your involvement and help to bring fun projects to life for our neighbourhoods. We can’t do it without you!

Yours truly,

Courtney Barnes
